Born in London, he joined the Royal Ballet in 1944 and won notice for performing numerous character roles, especially "Widow Simone" in the 1960 production of La fille mal gardée by Frederick Ashton. After retiring in 1969, he moved to California to teach and perform.] The young Stanley Holden was considered a safe pair of hands in a world full of self-opinionated performers.
 
La fille mal gardée is a widely produced opera and the scene is not that great. Thus, it is hardly worth trying to monitor the productions. However, for general interest, we list three more of some note since the original 1960 performance.
 
The Melbourne, Australia, 2004 performance was acclaimed as one of the finest productions of the ballet. Click HERE to view the spanking scene. Unfortunately, this clip has no sound.
 
 
The 2012 Opera Wroclawska production in Wroclawska (the Silesian capital in South-West Poland) saw Dariusz Raczycki as Simone spank Paulina Woś as Lise. Madia, the director, kept all the highlights of the Ashton choreography, including, of course, the spanking. Her grey panties were clearly on display, offering little protection to what seems to have been some genuine hard smacks.
 
 
Twenty-seven year old Mathilde Froustey is spanked during the performance at Paris Opera Ballet in 2012. After seeing her dancing as Lise in La Fille mal gardée in Paris in July 2012, Manuel Legris offered her a position in the Vienna State Ballet as principal dancer. Her role as Lise launched her international career.
